# Carson Jackson — Contemporary Abstract Artist > Maine-based self-taught contemporary abstract artist working from Button Factory Studio in Portsmouth, NH and Portland, Maine. Known for mixed media works combining acrylic, charcoal, ash, paste, crushed rock, and found objects on canvas. ## About Carson Jackson is a contemporary abstract artist based in Maine and New Hampshire. His work explores the interplay of darkness and light, drawing on his life's journey — from the coastal gardens of Ogunquit, Maine to the Fjords of Norway, the El Salvadorian surf, and the Outer Banks. As the son of a Cuban refugee, his work carries a rich multicultural depth. Prior careers in healthcare, modeling in Central America, and creative direction inform his emotional and technically distinct canvases.
